Lenore “Lenny” Hawley

Brief biography: Lenny Hawley is a licensed clinical social worker and certified brain injury specialist who has served individuals with brain injury for over 30 years. She is the Brain Injury Education and Resource Counselor at Craig Hospital in Englewood Colorado, where she also serves as a research clinician and outpatient group therapist.
Ms. Hawley is Principal Investigator on a Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems research study investigating psychological well-being, and Principal Investigator on a study of the prevalence of cannabis use following traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury.
She is the author of A Family Guide to the Head Injured Adult and the Self Advocacy for Independent Life workbook. Ms. Hawley is co-author of an evidence-based social competence intervention, Group Interactive Structured Treatment – GIST, and was an investigator on a study showing the efficacy of GIST.
She has provided numerous presentations at professional conferences on TBI rehabilitation, addressing topics such as social competence, psycho-social adjustment, group therapy, family adjustment, and advocacy. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Network for Social Workers in Acquired Brain Injury.
Involvement with INSWABI: Member of Executive Committee. She attended the International Conference for Social Work in Health and Mental Health in 2014 with other members of the Committee.
