Patti Simonson
Qualifications: BA Econ, PQSW, DipSW, Cert. Couns, Cert Mngt. Cert PETHS
Organisation: ICMS, AIVUK and Office of the Public Guardian. Patti currently works as an independent social worker and mental capacity assessor through the Association of Independent Visitors UK and is a Court of Protection Visitor for the Office of the Public Guardian. She runs ICMS and undertakes some brain injury case management.
Brief biography: Patti is an independent registered social worker with extensive social work experience in the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors. She is a Court of Protection Visitor for the Office of the Public Guardian and a founder member of AIVUK working as an independent visitor specialising in mental capacity matters. She is a founder member and co-convener of the International Network of Social Workers for Acquired Brain Injury.
She is a long standing member of the British Association of Social Workers and serves on the Adult Social Care Committee of BASW. She is an independent mental capacity assessor and skills based certificate provider for LPAs. She is an independent brain injury case manager for ICMS. Patti previously worked for many years as Head of Social Work and Welfare Benefits Administration at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, London.
Involvement with INSWABI: Founder member and co-convenor. Patti is an executive member of INSWABI having helped to form and run the group since its inception. She is past Chair of the Brain injury Social Work Group in the UK. She has many years of experience as a social worker particularly in the field of brain injury and neurodisability and has run many educational and learning opportunuities, conferences, workshops and seminars.
